Ernie Cavaliere Head Coach

Ernie Cavaliere

Ernie Cavaliere was born in Edmonton, Alberta and has been coaching Women's soccer in the Province for the past 20 years. He has been involved in all levels of competition from community, club, Major League, varsity and Provincial teams, and has worked with a number of players that are currently with the Canadian National Team. Ernie was a Provincial Head Coach for five years winning one National Gold medal, three Silver medals and was the Head Coach of both the 1999 U21 Alberta Western Canada Games team in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and the 2001 U20 Alberta Canada Summer Games team in London, Ontario.

In the past seven years with MacEwan the Lady Griffins have won 1 Gold, 3 Silver and 2 Bronze ACAC Provincial medals as well as 1 CCAA National Bronze medal. He has completed his National B-License certification and is currently working on his Level 4/5 NCCP certification. This is Ernie's ninth season with the Lady Griffins and looks forward to continued success with MacEwan College.

Samara Smith Assistant Coach

Samara Smith

Samara has been with the Griffins program as a goalie coach and assistant coach since 2003. Her playing career includes Major League soccer as well as being a dominant varsity keeper in the ACAC for four years. She has been actively coaching in the Edmonton club system with youth teams ranging in age from U-12 to women's. She is currently working with Goal keepers with the Edmonton Strikers soccer club.
Calinda Landaker Assistant Coach

Calinda Landaker

Calinda has been with the Griffins as an assistant coach since the 2001 season. She has had an incredible playing career winning National titles as a varsity athlete with the U of A Pandas and as a Major League player with Victoria Soccer club. She is also a current instructor at the St. Francis Xavier soccer Academy.
Kelly Grey Assistant Coach

Kelly Grey

It is with great pleasure that the MacEwan Women’s soccer team welcomes Kelly Grey as the newest member of the coaching staff. An alumni of MacEwan who played from 2003-2005 and was a member of the 2005 national Bronze medal team has returned to assist from the other side of the bench. During her ACAC playing career Kelly was a top goal scorer, ACAC All-star and CCAA All-Canadian. Her club career saw her on Provincial teams, club and Major league teams and representing Alberta at various levels of National competitions. Kelly has been coaching in Edmonton the past number of years at the High school, community and club levels. “Her addition to the program will be noticed immediately through her knowledge, passion and dedication to the game. She always has been a true Griffin and I am excited to have her back in the fold” says head coach Cavaliere. Welcome back Kelly!
