The Griffin's Women's Hockey Program is pleased to announce Lindsay McAlpine as Head Coach.
McAlpine is the complete package; a highly respected athlete, and an educator with extensive academic background. With an impressive hockey career, McAlpine completed her five years of eligibility with the University of Alberta Pandas, winning a Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) National Championship all five years. In her final year she was named CIS Player of the Year, First team All-Canadian, and Canada West Player of the Year. With the completion of her combined degree in Physical Education/Education, she is currently teaching at Vimy Ridge Academy, teaching in the Sport Recreation Program, Language Arts, and The Hockey Program.
"It's an honour to have the opportunity to coach a sport that I am so passionate about" said McApline. "I am excited to both build and grow with the Griffin's program. My goal is to teach our student-athletes to play with respect and integrity for the game, the program, and themselves at all times. We will focus on the things we can control."
Not new to coaching role, McAlpine has assisted with the University of Alberta's Hockey program, head Instructed at various hockey academies and the Edmonton Girls Hockey Association. Through all of her commitments she has found time to own and coach High Tempo Hockey, an all female hockey school and conditioning camp. Her success as a coach and athlete is a tremendous asset as she enters the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference as the fourth Griffins women's hockey coach, and the first female head coach for the Women's Hockey Program.
"As a coach, I will present a consistent and positive message to the student-athletes; buy into a program's entirety and you will come out as an entire person."
McAlpine understands success, and recognizes the effort required to achieve it. With the season kicking off in September, watch out for this up and coming coach to create greatness. The Griffins would like to welcome Lindsay to the family.
